Leadership

Kevin Beaty

Founder & Principal

Kevin Beaty is the Founder and Principal of YUNEV — an independent, principal-led practice focused on building, launching, and scaling electrification, battery supply chains, and advanced powertrain programs for commercial vehicles and energy systems.

Kevin has more than two decades of hands-on operating leadership in the commercial vehicle industry, with experience spanning new product development, commercialization, and business unit growth. His work has required aligning engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and commercial teams to deliver products into real customer deployments under cost, timing, and performance constraints.

He spent over a decade at Eaton Corporation (NYSE: ETN), where he led and scaled the company’s hybrid electric powertrain business from inception through global commercialization across truck and bus OEM production programs. His responsibilities included architecture decisions, sourcing strategies, supplier commitments, system validation, APQP/PPAP, manufacturing scale-up, warranty exposure, and P&L ownership.

This work delivered global majority market share in Eaton’s served hybrid segments with strong margins, high reliability and safety performance, and warranty costs at or below plan.

Kevin also held technical and leadership roles at CALSTART, Woodward (NASDAQ: WWD), and Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), working on advanced powertrain controls, systems integration, alternative fuel programs, and industry initiatives supporting commercialization and market deployment at scale.

Kevin’s experience includes direct exposure to both U.S. and China markets, with an active network across battery manufacturers, suppliers, and industry partners. His work reflects an engineering-first perspective informed by a BSME, MBA, and PE licensure, along with experience as an inventor or co-inventor on eight U.S. patents, and leadership of multiple public-private industry initiatives as a founder or co-founder.

Today, Kevin focuses on leadership roles in commercialization, new product development, and business unit growth — particularly where companies are building new programs, scaling production, or entering new markets under real execution and commercialization pressure.

How YUNEV is Structured

YUNEV operates as a Principal-led model — ensuring continuity, accountability, and senior-level judgment throughout each engagement.

When additional expertise is required, YUNEV assembles and leads focused teams of trusted industry specialists — aligned to the specific demands of the program and accountable for outcomes.

This structure enables faster decision-making, clearer ownership, and the flexibility to engage where it matters most — from focused decision support to more embedded leadership roles — without sacrificing independence or accountability.

Continuous Market Immersion

YUNEV maintains continuous engagement with the commercial vehicle electrification and powertrain market — through active engagement and work across OEM programs, suppliers, and industry initiatives.

This real-time exposure ensures that decisions reflect current conditions around battery availability, supplier readiness, validation timelines, regulatory environments, and customer adoption — not outdated assumptions.

YUNEV’s market intelligence work, including the Commercial Vehicle Weekly E-Mobility Report, is grounded in this direct involvement and used to support informed, real-world decisions.
